AEO and GEO: Why Your Brand Has to Appear in AI Search
ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews changed the rules. Here is how to stay visible.
The zero click problem
A growing share of searches end without a visit. The user asks, the assistant answers, and no site gets the click. Ranking first is no longer enough, because the answer can be assembled from your page while crediting someone else.
Answer first, explain second
AI systems quote content that states the answer plainly and early. Long preambles get skipped. Put the direct answer in the first two sentences of each section, then supply the reasoning and detail underneath for readers who want it.
Be quotable
Numbers, dates, named methods, and defined terms give a model something specific to cite. Hedged, general writing gives it nothing. This is why thin AI generated filler rarely gets cited by AI systems: there is no substance in it to quote.
Exist as an entity
Consistent naming, structured data, and mentions on sites the models already trust all help a brand be recognized as a distinct thing rather than a string of words. Entity recognition is what lets a system connect your name to a topic confidently.
Which content formats get cited most often?
Definitions, comparisons, step sequences, and direct answers to a question phrased the way a person would ask it. These formats give a model a clean unit to lift. Long narrative essays with the point buried three paragraphs down rarely get quoted, not because the writing is poor but because there is no self contained passage that answers anything on its own.
Does structured data still matter for AI search?
Yes, more than it did. Schema tells a machine what a page is rather than making it infer from prose, which reduces ambiguity when a retrieval system decides whether your page answers a question. Organization, FAQ, Article, and Product markup are the ones that carry weight for most businesses. It is not a ranking trick, it is removing guesswork.
Everything above comes out of live client accounts rather than theory. If you would rather have it run on your business than read about it, we start with a free audit: two weeks, one channel, written findings that are yours to keep whether you hire us or not.

That is what the free audit is for. We look at your actual accounts and tell you which of these levers is available to you and roughly what it is worth, rather than recommending everything in the article. It takes two weeks and the written findings are yours whether you hire us or not.
We work with US businesses from established local operations through to national brands. The honest cut off is at the small end: if marketing spend is under a couple of thousand dollars a month, an agency fee eats too much of the budget and you are better served doing it in house with the guides on this blog.
We do not publish a rate card, because the same channel needs very different amounts of work at different revenue levels. Tell us your goals and what you are running now, we audit it, and you get a written quote priced against the scope your business actually needs.
No. Everything is month to month with no notice period and no exit fee. If we stop earning the work you should be able to leave the same week, and that constraint is deliberate.
